Passing through Lukovit? Stop for a short walk with striking views over the Iskar meanders, the famous Prohodna cave, and the hidden rock monastery of St Marina.
Park at the National Cave Home Petar Tranteev — and grab a coffee there while you’re at it, the views are worth it. From here, signs lead to Prohodna cave (just 10–15 min on foot). Known as the Eyes of God, it’s a natural wonder that never fails to impress — kids, adults, and rock climbers alike.
Backtrack slightly to pick up the path to St Marina monastery — a little harder to reach and tucked well out of sight, but worth every step. Before heading up, follow the path down to the river’s edge first. Watch your step on the stairs!
Recommended for kids aged 8+ due to steep sections.
